Outdoor drone show in Edirne

A show of 1,000 DRONICO drones closed the programme İstanbul’un Fethi Edirne’den Başlar at the Selimiye Mosque in Edirne, marking the anniversary of the conquest of Constantinople.

The story of 1453 was told in light: the Ottoman march setting out from Edirne, the cannon that breached the city walls, and the symbols associated with the conquest. The team flew in the rain, and the weather added to the atmosphere.

The story of the Fall of Constantinople was once told through chronicles, engravings and monumental paintings. Today it can be told through light, animation and hundreds of drones in the sky.

The medium changes, but the idea stays the same: bringing defining moments of history into a shared public experience. And yes, we flew in the rain. The weather decided to contribute to the atmosphere.
